@BambuuBrush partners with Tops Day Nurseries to support more sustainable early years care
The partnership will transition approximately 10,000 children’s toothbrushes each year to @BambuuBrush alternatives, with Gompels supporting distribution across the early years sector.

UK, August 2026: Certified B Corporations @BambuuBrush and Tops Day Nurseries have formed a new partnership to introduce @BambuuBrush children’s toothbrushes across Tops’ nursery settings.
Tops Day Nurseries currently purchases approximately 10,000 bamboo toothbrushes each year. From August 2026, it will transition this existing supply to @BambuuBrush, beginning with children’s toothbrushes and exploring other products used across its nurseries where more sustainable alternatives could be introduced.
From September, the range will be available through Gompels, an established distributor of early years products. Tops Day Nurseries encouraged Gompels to stock @BambuuBrush, creating an accessible purchasing route for its own settings and other nurseries across the UK.
The partnership brings together two Certified B Corporations with a shared commitment to using everyday decisions to create positive environmental and social impact.[1][2]
Supporting Tops Day Nurseries’ sustainability commitments
Tops Day Nurseries operates 33 settings across the south of England and provides early years education and care to more than 4,000 children.[3]
In 2026, Tops Day Nurseries was honoured with the King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, recognising its outstanding commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible business practices.[6]
Sustainability is one of the organisation’s core values and is embedded across its nursery operations, purchasing decisions and educational approach. Tops states that every decision it makes should include a sustainability consideration. It is also committed to remaining carbon neutral across Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, with an aspiration to address Scope 3.[4]
Its existing initiatives include reusable nappies and wet bags, plastic-free practices, natural learning resources, growing herbs and vegetables with children, renewable energy, sustainable travel and activities that connect children with their local environment.[4]
The introduction of @BambuuBrush products supports this wider commitment by applying Tops’ environmental values to an everyday item already used across its nurseries.
An estimated 200 kg of plastic avoided annually
A conventional plastic toothbrush contains approximately 20 grams of plastic, based on the average used for the partnership’s initial impact estimate.
Transitioning 10,000 toothbrushes each year represents the potential to prevent approximately 200 kg of conventional toothbrush plastic from entering commercial circulation annually.
This is an indicative estimate based on the weight of an average plastic toothbrush. Actual impact will depend on the weight and material composition of the products previously purchased.
Beyond the initial toothbrush transition, @BambuuBrush and Tops Day Nurseries will explore further opportunities to introduce alternatives that align with the nursery group’s environmental commitments.
Tommie Eaton, Co-founder of @BambuuBrush, said:
“Tops Day Nurseries has already embedded sustainability into the way it operates, educates and makes decisions. This partnership allows us to support that commitment through an everyday product used across its nursery settings.
“Transitioning approximately 10,000 toothbrushes each year could prevent an estimated 200 kg of conventional toothbrush plastic from entering circulation which supports @BambuuBrush’s mission of stopping 1,000,000kg of plastic toothbrushes by 2030, @BambuuBrush and partners have currently stopped ~250,000kg so far. It is one simple change, but delivered at scale and supported by education, it can have a meaningful impact.”
[Sandy Kemish], [Data and Sustainability Manager] at Tops Day Nurseries, said:
“Every decision we make at Tops Day Nurseries includes a sustainability consideration, from the resources we use to the experiences we provide for children.
“Our partnership with @BambuuBrush supports this commitment while helping children understand that looking after their own health and caring for the environment can go hand in hand. By introducing these values from an early age, we can help children develop positive habits and a greater awareness of the world around them.”
Building environmental awareness from an early age
Tops Day Nurseries believes sustainability should be embedded into early childhood education rather than treated as a separate subject. Children are encouraged to learn through practical experiences, from growing food and exploring natural resources to taking part in local environmental and community activities.[4]
The partnership creates another opportunity to connect a familiar daily routine with wider conversations about personal health, materials, plastic pollution and care for the planet.
This aligns with @BambuuBrush’s own approach. The Certified B Corporation combines product development with environmental education and community action, including school workshops and beach and community clean-ups.[5]
By working together, @BambuuBrush and Tops Day Nurseries aim to demonstrate how aligned organisations can turn procurement decisions into practical environmental progress while helping children develop positive values from an early age.
