At @BambuuBrush we’ve always believed that real sustainability isn’t a slogan. It’s practical change woven into everyday operations. Today we’re reflecting on two milestones that quietly prove that belief is becoming reality at scale.

We’re delighted to share that @BambuuBrush was mentioned in Etihad Airways’ official sustainability reporting, both in their 2021 Sustainability Report and again in their 2023 Environment Report.

These mentions honour our work supplying bamboo toothbrushes on Etihad ECOFlights, flights focused on reducing waste and testing sustainable alternatives to traditional single-use items. Back in 2021, this was part of Etihad’s first Greenliner ecoFlight, a carbon-neutral initiative that explored practical ways to make aviation more sustainable.

Being included in Etihad’s sustainability documentation isn’t just a nod to good intent. It’s recognition that a natural product like bamboo, thoughtfully sourced and integrated, can contribute to measurable waste reduction across one of the most demanding global service industries.

What It Means for Hospitality and Retail

Sustainability reporting isn’t usually a place you’d expect to see a bamboo toothbrush highlighted. That’s precisely why this matters.

Etihad’s reports, both 2021 and 2023,  trace meaningful progress across carbon performance, waste avoidance, and partnership strategies that deliver on real outcomes.

In an industry as complex and scale-intensive as aviation, every component counts. Replacing plastic toothbrushes onboard might seem simple, but across hundreds of flights and millions of passengers, this shift removes significant volumes of single-use plastic waste while reinforcing guest experience. It shows that sustainable alternatives aren’t just feasible, they can be adopted and measured.

For hospitality and retail brands considering their own sustainability commitments, this is a clear signal: single-use plastics are already being phased out in high-visibility, large-scale operations. Bamboo products are not just eco-friendly, they are business-ready and reportable.

Material Change Is Now Measurable

Etihad’s 2023 Environment Report highlights broader industry progress from reductions in single-use plastic items to improvements in fuel efficiency and carbon intensity, as part of a “million little things” approach to sustainability. Very similar to @Bambuubrush's #1MILLIONKGBY2030 goals

Our inclusion again in 2023 underscores that bamboo products have moved beyond experimentation. They are part of real change programs that major global operators document, measure, and share publicly.

That matters for procurement teams, sustainability leads, and brand marketers alike. Tangible product choices that reduce waste and support reporting frameworks are increasingly part of how organisations define success.

Bamboo’s Role in the Bigger Picture

At @BambuuBrush, we design products for impact that scales. Being recognised in Etihad’s reporting confirms what we and many partners already know:

  • Natural materials like bamboo can replace plastic wherever there’s demand

  • Scalable supply chains exist today

  • Sustainability isn’t waiting for next year, it’s here now

If an airline with global reach can shift away from plastic toothbrushes and document it publicly, there’s no reason hospitality and retail can’t lead the way too.

Final Thought

Sustainability is more than a target. It’s a series of practical decisions that, when added together, reshape industries.

We’re grateful to have been part of Etihad’s journey and proud that bamboo products are now part of documented industry progress.

And the message is clear.

Bamboo’s time has arrived. #OneSimpleChange
